Healing Through the Wisdom of Ancient Medicine

David J. Seto, M.D. received his bachelor's degree on a scholarship at Princeton University and earned his medical doctorate also on a full scholarship at New Jersey Medical School, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed residency in internal medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University, and is double board-certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Integrative Medicine. He lived in Beijing, China from 2013-2015, where he completed a long-term clinical apprenticeship in classical Chinese acupuncture with Dr. Wang Ju-Yi, a pioneer of palpatory channel diagnosis in Chinese medicine. Dr. Seto has had thousands of hours of advanced clinical training in acupuncture and osteopathic manipulation with organizations such as American Academy of Osteopathy, the Osteopathic Cranial Academy, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture and the Toyohari Association of North America. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Spanish, with basic conversation skills in Cantonese and Korean.

Dr. Seto believes that the ancient Chinese philosophy of Wu-Wei, which describes "action without action," holds the key to unlocking the innate healing potential of body, mind and spirit that materializes in the natural world. He utilizes osteopathic manipulation, acupuncture and lifestyle counseling to help people of all ages unleash their healing potential through synchronizing with nature's spontaneous wisdom. Dr. Seto also teaches Ba Gua Zhang, a Chinese internal martial art that is famed for its health benefits, and has lectured widely on plant-based nutrition, which doctors, scientists and healthcare organizations worldwide are increasingly recognizing as a cornerstone of health and longevity.

The Way is always 'not-doing' (Wu-Wei),

Yet there is nothing that it leaves undone.

If the sovereign is able to abide by it,

Everything will naturally change.

—Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Osteopathy is a system of medical diagnosis and treatment using the hands, which was developed in the 19th century by Andrew Taylor Still, M.D., D.O., a brilliant anatomist who served the Union as a surgeon in the U.S. Army during the Civil War.

Dr. Seto utilizes gentle manual techniques such as Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, Balanced Ligamentous Tension, Biodynamics, Fulford Percussion, Functional Technique and Muscle Energy to help restore freedom of motion, balanced fluid exchange and health throughout the body.

Acupuncture is an ancient East Asian medical treatment that encourages the balanced flow of Qi and Blood throughout the body in order to facilitate health. Dr. Seto's range of expertise includes styles such as Classical Chinese Acupuncture, Engaging Vitality, Kiiko Matsumoto's Acupuncture, Master Tung's Acupuncture, Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture, Tan's Balance Method, Sa-Am Korean Acupuncture, and the gentle, non-insertional Japanese styles of Toyohari Meridian Therapy, Shakuju Therapy and Pediatric Shoni-Hari.

A plant-based diet has been hailed by physicians, scientists and public health experts around the world as one of the most effective, scientifically proven ways to achieve vibrant health, as well as prevent and reverse deadly chronic diseases such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and multiple forms of cancer, to name a few. Dr. Seto can help you understand the facts about food and health, and how to successfully implement dietary changes that will benefit your health in the long run.

Ba Gua Zhang is a form of Chinese internal martial arts, in the same family as T'ai Chi. It was first taught openly by Grandmaster Dong Hai-Chuan in 19th century Beijing, China. Dr. Seto has trained in Beijing under Grandmaster Yang Shi-Ming (Liang style Ba Gua), and under Grandmaster Sun Hui-Xiang (Cheng style Ba Gua). Its core practice of meditative circle walking is an excellent health cultivation exercise that encourages freedom of motion throughout the body and the smooth flow of Qi and Blood.
